It all started out innocently as I started to play a "standard" Pharaoh's game.
The programmers were benevolent enough to supply me with 4 spare men. This
amount of men is fine if you think that there are 5 or 10 levels of pyramids.
I started to get curious about just how many levels of play there really were.
That is when I first discovered that there are different ways to cheat at this
game. If you doubt my method, here is my current score: Points: 580,800.
Spare men: 57. Level: 199, and I am still playing this SAVED game! I have
finished pyramid level 199, and 200, but there is a quirk at this point that
will not allow you to save the game. At this point, you must complete both
199 and 200.

Once you complete level 200, all is not lost! You will be returned to level 1
but your score, and number of spare men will be carried over from the previous
level. You will also be able to use the SAVE function again. I am currently
back to pyramid level 1 with 589,800 points and 56 men!

Types of play: Standard - Challenge - Beginner - Championship

Types of saves: STANDARD.SAV CHALLNGE.SAV BEGINNER.SAV CHAMPION.SAV
                  (These are important to know!)

CHEAT METHOD 1: The easiest "type" of play is Beginner. Once you achieve a
higher level, you can return to DOS and copy BEGINNER.SAV to CHAMPION.SAV and
you have just transfered your points, spare men, and pyramid level to CHAMPION
level! This COPY method is extremely important for CHEAT METHOD 3.

CHEAT METHOD 2: Use the F2 Save Option frequently. You should SAVE your game
almost every time you finish a level. If the previous level was not too hard,
and the current level looks like you can go through it on your first try, then
don't save; go for the next level too. This is how you get more spare men!
Remember: Unless you are trying to gain more men, keep saving after every
level has been completed.

CHEAT METHOD 3: Some levels are easier to play in the three different modes.
Example: There are some levels that require you to use 60 or 70 ladders. That
means you must make many trips back to the corner where the ladders are. The
Beginners level is actually harder on than the Challenge on this part. Exit
to DOS, and COPY BEGINNER.SAV to CHALLNGE.SAV Now, play that level in the
Challenge mode. After you have completed it, COPY CHALLNGE.SAV to BEGINNER.SAV
and restore the BEGINNER game and you will have achieved that level also!

CHEAT METHOD 4: There are some levels where you must get the Pharaoh to
chase you in order to move him out of your way. If he is blocking a section
that you need to enter on the pyramid, simply back up and build an escape
route. Go near him and he will start chasing you. Lead him through the maze
of ladders you created and then "double back" to where you wanted to go.

CHEAT METHOD 5: It is sometimes advantagous to use the "UP" and "DOWN" arrows
to move between pyramid levels, to beat a certain level. The advantage of this
is you end up right beside the ladder supply and the Pharaoh is far away. The
disadvantage is that you are penalized points. There are a few levels where it
is totally necessary too use this method.

CHEAT METHOD 6: Once you have completed level 198, return to DOS and copy the
three *.SAV files to *.199 This will allow you to return to that HIGH level
of play by renaming these files. This comes in handy when you have friends
that you want to impress!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Every pyramid level is can be beat. I admit that some are a bitch, but still,
they ALL can be can be beat if you work at each one long enough.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It still amazes me why the programmers of this game decided to put so many
levels into it. Christ, wouldn't 50 or 100 pyramid levels been sufficient?
200 blows my mind. ! My hat goes off to those diligent programmers who did
exactly what a game is supposed to do. It entertained me for weeks!
