* * * The Green Flash * * *

In DOOM, Episode 1, here's a nifty little trick you can perform 
while in the Military Base (Level E1M9).

First, to get to the Base (the "secret level"), type "IDCLEV19" 
from any of the other levels.  (You can also get there the kosher
way by finding a special exit on Level 3.)  Wend your way to the 
room with the big red star in the northwest corner of the Base 
(use the "IDBEHOLDA" command to get the full-map view when you 
hit the TAB key).  As soon as you step on that red star, all hell's 
gonna break loose as Imps, Spectres, and Demons come zapping 
out at you, through a green flash, from a secret chamber on the 
other side of the wall.  Waste the little fuggers so you can 
proceed without distraction.

Once you've got the room to yourself, move over to the northwest 
wall.  Type "IDSPISPOPD" to turn off clipping mode and walk through 
the wall.  As soon as you find yourself in the secret chamber, type 
"IDSPISPOPD" again to turn clipping back on.  Explore the room, 
and when you're ready for the Green Flash, walk back into the 
little alcove you entered from.  You'll be zapped back to the 
star room in a flash o' green.  So that's how they did it!

(P.S. If you really want a taste of madness, IDSPISPOPD your way 
into that secret chamber while the ghoulies are still there.  Yikes.)
