Pre-release slide show for WOLF/DOOM 3-D ======================================== Preface: ------- This project has been in development since January when, whilst lurking in alt.games.doom, I saw somebody wish for a new version of Wolf using the Doom engine. Wheels started turning, and this is the result. What's been done so far: ----------------------- I've "stolen" *ALL* the object sprites from Wolf and replaced the Doom objects with them, about 40 in all. Ditto with *ALL* the wall textures (approx 50), and *ALL* the character sprites (about 400). I've also lifted *nearly* all the sound effects (41 at last count). I've also created a new ENDOOM screen. I've transferred the first map of the first episode verbatim into WOLF/DOOM 3-D, as well as one new original level. The characters, objects, music, and sound effects will all be in one wad file, and the maps and wall textures will be in a separate one. DMADDS will be utilized so as to not have a 3 meg distribution file. What's yet to be done: --------------------- Can't seem to get the music out of Wolf. Anyone know how? Inserting new (old?) numerals, weapons, assorted little junk. Making new end-of-level screens. In the middle of making an intro screen out of the original Wolf & Doom screens. NEED SOME NEW (uncirculated) ORIGINAL LEVELS BADLY! Put it all into a nice neat package. Go be with my family, if I still have one left. Read all the criticism on alt.games.doom. Regret even attempting something like this.:-D When will it be finished? ------------------------ God only knows, and he ain't saying. *Hopefully* around September. Who's doing this? ---------------- Up to now, just me (Paul Holt). Unfortunately, I lack the skills to make a REALLY good level map. Mine are passible, at best, and not nearly up to par with the rest of this package. Thus, the reason for this release. SEND ME ORIGINAL LEVELS!!! Credit will definitely be given where due.
