File Name: wadload2.zip - includes: wadload2.txt - this text file (replaces wadload.zip wad.btm - program to run _and_ wadload1.zip) wadname.exe - object called by wadload wadname.txt - wadname description Author: Greg Durrett gdurrett@crl.com Description: Wadload is a 4DOS batch file which greatly automates doom solo or net playing with external PWADS. When you run Wadload, you choose the PWAD from a list, specify solo or net [if net, specify coop or death;# of players;port number], and you're on your way. No more nasty command line parameters!! Requirements: You need to be running 4DOS, which is an incredible replacement for command.com. 4DOS, which was created by JP Software, P.O. Box 1470, E. Arlington, MA 02174, USA (617) 646-3975, can be obtained as shareware by ftp from ftp.std.com in /vendors/ jpsoft/4dos. In order to run a netgame, you need to be running IPX, or have the NWClient software (LSL, card driver, IPXODI) in a file called startnet.bat. Locations: Download Wadload as wadload.zip from infant2.shps.indiana.edu in /pub/doom/incoming, and later in /pub/doom/misc/ Credits: To JP Software for providing such a fine piece of work as 4DOS. To ASRE, for the utility Wadname v1.0 which I use here to auto- load the episode and level numbers. To Bob, Tim, Kern, Don, and Kerry (The Deathmatch Gang) for usability testing and advice. Instructions: a)IF you are not running Novell, make sure your ipx drivers are in your PATH and in a file called "startnet.bat". a)unzip wadload.zip in your root directory b)move wadname.exe to your wads directory c)put the following statements in your autoexec.bat and reboot: 1)SET DOOMDIR=_[path & directory where doom is located] 2)SET WADDIR=_[path & directory where your pwads are] For example: SET WADDIR= D:\games\doom1_2\wads 3)IF you're running IPX, SET IPXON=Y d)type wad e)select wad from list, then if solo, just play. If net, specify #players, death or solo, and port #, that's it. Questions or Problems: email to me at gdurrett@crl.com
