Combat ! The news drones on about the current struggle in ....  You punch 
the seek button, and get an old rock and roll song about everybody losing
(the' war is ova, 'n nobody knows, th' war is ova 'n nobody cares; 
something like that),  you don't care yourself.  You're tired.  It's been
a long two weeks, it' raining, and you'll be home tomorrow.   Just one
more night in a hotel.

What's that signpost up ahead?  There's a "VACANCY" sign.  Hard to see the
name of the place, through the drizzle, but it looks like BATES MOTEL.  A
little seedy, and off the beaten path, you think.  Just a little further.

That last stretch of road was awfully dark, but there's a familiar looking
glow in the near distance.  Sure enough!  It's a Chain Hotel.  Sign is
hard to make out in the increasing rain, but it looks like  "Mhelltell6".
Must be your eyes.  Time to stop, for sure!

Wondering if this wide open space in front of the bigdoor is for the
handicapped; and simultaneously deciding you don't give a damn: on a night
like this; you walk in.

Somehow, you think the clerk is not going to like it if you disturb him...
Make that, "it".  Make that DISTURBED.   He(it) looks a little, shall we
say, "different".  But Diversity training has prepared you for just about
anything. Just about...   

But not this!
