You need a mouse to use *** the program. If you are stuck in the program without a *** mouse, you can exit by pressing the Esc key. Most of the programs on the CD-ROM are DOS-based. Follow these steps at the DOS prompt to run the installation menu program: 1. Switch to your CD-ROM drive. Example: if your CD-ROM drive is D, type D: and press Enter. 2. Type \INSTALL and press Enter. This will start the menu program. Hexen Reference Document ------------------------- You'll find special Hexen reference material in the \BOOK directory of the disc. The document is reproduced in Adobe Acrobat format; the Adobe Acrobat Reader (Windows and DOS versions) is located in the \ACROBAT directory of the CD-ROM. To install the Windows Reader, see the \README.WRI file. To install the DOS version of the Reader, run \ACROBAT\DOS\INSTALL.EXE. We strongly recommend that you use the Windows version of the Acrobat Reader, as it is quicker and less 'buggy' than the DOS version. Other Tools and Utilities on the disc -------------------------------------- When you're running the Installation menu program, go to the Tools and Utilities section. Click on the "View Information" button. This will open the \UTILS\INDEX.TXT file, which contains a list of all the additional tools and utilities on the CD-ROM. To install any of the programs, copy the files to a new directory on your hard drive. Some of the programs may have an installation program, which will be noted in the INDEX.TXT file. Bonus Electronic documentation ------------------------------- In the \XTRADOCS directory, you'll find bonus documentation for several DOOM editing tools: DEEP.PDF Documentation for DEEP (Acrobat format) DMAPEDIT.PDF Documentation for DMapED (Acrobat format) DMAPEDIT.WRI Documentation for DMapED (Acrobat format) TOC.HTM DooM Node Builder Information (HTML format) To view the .PDF documents, open them within Adobe Acrobat Reader (see "Hexen Reference Document" in this file for more information). To view the .HTM document, open the file from within an Internet Web browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer. Contacting us for support -------------------------- We can't help you with computer problems, DOOM problems, or Windows/DOS problems, but we can assist you with a problem you have with the CD-ROM itself and the software on it. Note: Problems with programs in the \UTILS directory need to be resolved with the author of that software. If you're having any other problems with the software on the disc, here's how to get in touch with us.
