                           One Wicked Wad E2M1

Well, this is just another level for DOOM but I must say, it was a
real bitch. I used three 'tools' to make it.
     (D.E.U. 5, Dmapedit 2.1, BSP v1.0)
I kept wondering if I was doing something wrong........
Just when I thought I understood what caused what, something strange
would pop up - see thru walls, hyper-junk, mysterious 'platforms' not
showing up in any of the tools, blah, blah....on and on. I don't know
how some of these other dudes are making some of these other maps. They
must be having the same headaches. It could of course be my fault also.
Anyway the stinking thing is finally 'done'. I started out with
Dmapedit, but the lack of texture displays was a bit cumbersome. I then
Started over with DEU, but drawing lines, which works great in Dm, was
a bit cumbersome there. The guys coding these tools are next to genius,
and they've outdone themselves if you consider what they had to work
with, So don't mistake this for whining.

Anyway, the whole map started getting bigger as I figured stuff out,
but then the weird stuff started happening - my map was beginning to
seem posessed by phantom-sectors, and jiggly walls.
I tried minimizing the use of vertices, but some of the effects stayed
there. Once, I got real p.o.'d and just about scrapped the whole works,
but instead, had a Miller and calmed down. THEN, one nite,
browsing a bbs, I found a nodes generator claiming to excorsize
jiggly walls and stuff from home-grown DOOM maps. I tried it, and
boom, it worked GREAT. The name of the program is BSP10.ZIP or
BSP v1.0 by Colin Reed. -try it, you'll like it.

So, I tried to keep the idea in which this was supposed to be a type
of 'sewer' map, but I don't think it turned out that way. There is
a 'cool teleporter thing' as my brother put it. You'll know when you
see it. If you play wimpy-skill, you will finish pretty easily. I
wanted it that way. To many of these maps I've seen have 27 Cacos'
14 Barons, and 32 Imps in the first sector. That really sucks cause
when ya croak, all those mothers just come back at you, and all you
end up doing is scattering the level with Player 1 bodies - It's no
fun to play when all you do is DIE.
