INTENSE NEW DOOM SOUNDS for Doom 1.2 and 1.666
----------------------------------------------

Welcome to my set of new Doom sounds. Hopefully you should find them
interesting, bizarre and intense.

Nearly all the sounds are new, with the exception of a few of the weapons
and a couple of picky-up type sounds. Most of the monsters now say samples
out of movies (such as the spectres saying "I'll kill him...and I'll eat him"
from "The Cook the Thief the Wife, her Lover"). These sounds are also mucked
around with in various ways, hopefully to make them sound meaner. All the
sounds of dying and injuring are new, and hopefully will freak the shit out
of you. Elevators e.t.c also have new sounds, recorded from industrial
settings on DAT.

WARNING:- some of these sounds are not too likely to impress rednecks,
parents and the like! Ozzies, be aware that your censors have deprived you
of some very intense and obnoxious (need I say good?) movies!

INSTALLATION
------------
Before installing the new sounds make sure that you have another 1/2 meg or
so disk space, or the old sounds will not be able to be saved, and you will
be stuck with the sick new ones. There should also be two new directories
unzipped into the doom directory, newsound and oldsound. Oldsound is where the old sounds are going to
be stored.

All you need to do to install the new sounds into the Doom wad is when you
are in the doom directory type:-
                                SOUNDIN
If you want to put the sounds into a wad created by someone else you'll need
to specify this in the dmaud command, and edit my soundin.bat by using the
-f <wadname.wad> option.
If soundin is run more than once, the original sounds will be wiped over with
the new ones, take heed.

BACK TO NORMAL
-------------
To get rid of the new sounds and go back to the original Doom sounds just
type
                                SOUNDOUT

BULLSHIT
--------
Naturally I will not be responsible for any cock-ups or acts of god causing
your computer to melt down. It's a good idea to get rid of any pre-existing
new sounds or hacks before installing the new sounds. Hacks and so on can then
be re-installed, and should run OK for Doom 1.2 and 1.666.
Gravis users should make sure that you've got at least 8 or more sound
channels enabled, since many of these sounds are longer than the originals.
Unfortunately heavy combat situations will go a bit slower, but I think it
is a worthwhile compromise.

Many thanx to Bill Neisius for the dmaud program.
When a version for Doom 2 comes out expect an update on some more new sounds.

If you want to know where a sample is from or what it is I'd be happy to
reply.

ENJOY at high volume.
