This CD-ROM was put together from files extracted from Bulletin Boards all over the country and the Internet. Many of the files did not come with the author's text files. If you are an author of a file on this CD-ROM and you would like your text file put back into the zip file, please send me a copy of the text author form and I will correct your file. If you wrote a mission or other utility/program on this CD-ROM and you do not want your program on this CD-ROM, please notify me and it will be removed. You must provide some sort of proof that you are indeed the author of the program or programs in question. If you don't like the description of your mission or program on the CD-ROM files.bbs listing, please send me a description you'd prefer used and I will modify it immediately. I have not tested every single file on this CD-ROM. No responsibility is taken for any damage done to your computer for anything you do with any program included on this CD-ROM. If you find that there is any file on this CD-ROM which you believe causes a problem, please notify me immediately. If I can duplicate the problem, I will delete the file. I looked through every text file companion to every file on this CD-ROM for warnings from authors not wishing their work to be put on CD-ROM. If I missed your warning, I sincerely apologize. As of this writing I have over 20 megabytes of Doom files I cannot put on this CD-ROM due to these warnings. To those of you who have specifically excluded your files from CD-ROM distribution because you wish to be asked or because you don't like others making money off your work, I urge you to change your minds for two very good reasons. First, there are many people throughout America who don't have access to either the Internet or to the good Bulletin Board Systems which have decent collections of Doom files. Access to the Internet is expensive unless you're a college student, and only certain college students at that have Internet access. Many of the large BBS systems which carry your files charge for access to cover their costs and of course, make money. You don't think all those big BBS systems do it just for fun? Some might, but most do not. Ultimately, to get all the files on this CD-ROM through the phone lines via the Internet or through Bulletin Boards has a cost in both your time to download it and the cost of the service. Believe me, it adds up! The second very good reason I urge you to change your minds about CD-ROM distribution is also very elementary. Ask yourselves, "Why did I put all those hours into writing that Doom mission?" Of course, for fun! But also, isn't there a part of you who wanted to share the wonderful work you did with the rest of the world? An enormous percentage of the Doomaholics stuck in the backwoods oases of this country will never see your work without this form of distribution. I have gathered and played many levels which I would love to put on my Thousand and One Nights of Doom CD-ROM, not because I'd make money (I have enough levels here that I'll do that anyway) but because I want those backwoods Doomaholics to have the same opportunity to savor your work as I did! I won't dispute the fact that I want this CD-ROM to be the absolute finest collection of Doom missions found anywhere, including the Internet server! But money is simply not an issue here! If you do change your minds, please send me permission to put your mission on CD-ROM with some kind of proof that you are who you say you are and that you are the author of a mission you'll allow put on my CD-ROM. Thanx for listening! Mark Murray 4924 Arevalo Ct. St. Louis, MO 63128
