The Mummy ReturnsBefore I even start this review, I would just like to mention to all of The Rock's fans, that if they are going to see this movie just because of him, then forget it. Save your $8 and rent in on VHS/DVD. He only appears at the beginning of the movie for about five minutes. If you have seen previews where he is fighting an army, then you saw it all. That's it. If you want to see more of The People's Champ, then I suggest you go check out old Pay-Per-Views of the WWF or go buy his T-shirt.
First of all, I would like
to congratulate Universal Pictures on another blockbuster hit.
This movie is a definitely for the entire family. Why is that
you ask? For starters, it features actors like Brendan Fraiser
(Bedazzled), Oded Fehr (Deuce Bigalow), and Andrew Vosloo (Don
Juan), the special effects in the movie are incredible, and the
movie features very little blood. That's right! Except for a few
cuts and scratches here and there, there is very little blood
at all. Even the body decapitations lack blood...
The movie takes place ten years after the original. Treasure hunters
Rick O'Connell and his wife Evie go in search for the bracelet
of Anubis. In this adventure Freddie Boath joins the cast as their
son, Alex. In order to make the movie fun of course, the O'Connels
are not the only ones after this mythical bracelet. Followers
of Im-Ho-Tep, the mummy from part one, are also searching for
it. The bracelet is really a guide to the gold temple of the Scorpion
King. The Scorpion King is not only the fiercest, badest, and
most powerful warrior on earth, but with the army of Anubis at
his hands, he was unstoppable. Their mission is to find the lost
Oasis where the Scorpion King temple resides. That is when Im-Ho-Tep
will engage him in combat and take over his army. Only one slight
problem, when Rick's son dons the bracelet and can't get it off,
Im-Ho-Tep's goons kidnap him and take him along to find the temple
of the Scorpion King. 'Nuff said.
Overall, I did enjoy this
movie and recommend this to any movie lover. Whether it's action
you crave or a heart-filled love story, The Mummy Returns has
it all. There is also a scene in the movie which is done way to
closely to a scene in Titanic. Needless to say that I couldn't
help myself, so I screamed, "I'm king of the world!"
People in the movie theater found my stunt amusing whereas my
friends didn't. What can I say? Not everyone can take a joke.
I hope I didn't offend anyone bad enough to go home and cry to
their, "mummy."
