Along Came A Spider What started off as a kidnapping
of a senator's daughter soon turns into the crime of the century.
Alex Cross (Morgan Freeman) must forget about his dark past in
his last undercover sting, and face this new killer and his deadly
game.
The movie starts off when a private school teacher (Michael Wincott)
kidnaps a no-named senator's daughter. He then leaves clues from
Dect. Cross to solve and lead him to the next clue. Freeman is
a well known criminal profiler, so Wincott wants him to turn the
kidnapping into the "crime of the century." There is
many references to the kidnapping of the Lindenberg baby of the
early 20th Century, which does make the movie interesting.
Overall the movie is somewhat of a slow starter, but it's still interesting. There is no real hidden surprises; we know who the killer is, the only fun part is to figure out the clues that Wincott leaves behind. The movie reminds me a lot of The Bone Collector, but the movie isn't that suspenseful or dark. Most of the death scenes in this movie are quick and done by a gun, whereas The Bone Collector's deaths were more gruesome and bloodier.
All in all, I liked this
movie. It may not be a blockbuster hit at the theaters, but it's
definitely a take home.
