Picking the Right Session: Dates, Levels, Fees

Each summer day-camp session at David Weiss Tennis Camps gives you 6-14 hours of instruction (depending on your age and level), spread out over 4 consecutive days. A low 4:1 student:teacher ratio gives you the attention and intensity you want in a group lesson.

Over the course of the 4-day session, every stroke will be drilled and analyzed. Every facet of match play will be simulated: the backcourt game, the net game, serves and returns. You’ll learn about the geometry of singles and doubles positioning. You’ll be doing drills used in David’s Tallwood varsity programs: Spider, Offense-defense, Zig-zag, Rapid fire, Hi-lo.

• Beginners and advanced beginners will learn the fundamentals of stroke production and strategy at a patient, fun, and athletic pace.

•Intermediates and tournament-seasoned experts will drill the strokes they already possess, work on specific weaknesses, and engage in fast-paced simulations of net play, back-court games, serve-volley tactics, and advanced doubles strategies.

• Intermediate (plays and competes regularly, at least one strong stroke, but weak in at least two areas, for example net play and second serve; somewhat consistent at medium pace)
•Advanced Intermediate (plays some tournaments; strong in several areas; consistent in entire game, but at least one area of your game can be attacked; can finish points at net)

Fall High-school Sessions (3 days/week; 2 hours/class)
These sessions are targeted at Intermediate to Expert high schoolers (or Expert middle-schoolers) who want to keep their skill levels sharp or improve to the next level.

Students will drill the strokes they already possess, work on specific weaknesses, and engage in fast-paced simulations of net play, back-court games, serve-volley tactics, and advanced doubles strategies.

Groups of high-school tennis teams are ideal for these sessions, but individuals may certainly apply as well.

Each session provides 18 hours of group instruction and drilling spread out over 3 weeks: 2 hours per class, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, totaling 9 classes.
In the event of rain, makeups will be on the next available Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday, same time.

The cost of the 9 classes is $162 per person if there are 4 in a group. If a group of 3 players do not want a fourth in their group, their cost is $216 per person.

If students apply as a group, they must fill out separate applications, but should attach them together with separate deposits; if you form your own group, it is strongly recommended that your group level be somewhat equal in ability level.
