| Alexander inks 7 year deal! |
![]() |
| News out of Sandberg hall the Rynos practice facility and head quarters. The Rynos have signed running back Shaun Alexander to a 7 year deal worth $60 million dollars with a 21 million dollar singing bonus. This pretty much guarantees that Alexander will be a Ryno next year. Alexander in his second year finally got a chance to play every day after the injury to Rickey Watters. Alexander took full advantage of his opportunity. He went on to pile up 1631 total yards and 16 TDs on the year and finished in second place only to Marshall Faulk for points by a RB in the UFFA. He helped the Rynos break the record for most points by a team in a season and at one point I believe he held the record for points in a game (only to have it broken by Faulk later in the year) after pilling up over 240 yards and 3 tds over the Raiders. Bill Walsh the Rynos GM said "we are very pleased to have Shaun here with this organization, he has great character on and off the field and is indicative of the type of player this organization strives to have. We think very highly of Ahman Green as well, we really would like to have him back but the UFFA says two guys and we can't take two running backs." Word is that Walsh is currently working out a deal with Terrell Owens. It was originally thought that Jeff Garcia would definitely be back with the team next year especially after being named UFFA player of the year. And with Walshs comments about Alexanders character would they keep Owens and his big mouth? Walsh is San Fran guy so maybe he knows more than the rest of us. Time will tell, when we have any more info we will be sure to report it. Reporting form Sandberg hall Rynos beat reporter Oscar Madison |
