William(3) died in 1746 in Prince Georges County, Maryland. He married Mary, last name unknown, in 1696. They had eight children, the most significant of which was William(4). He was born in 1701 in Prince Georges County, Maryland and died 1788 in Union County, 96th District, South Carolina. He married Mary, last name unknown, 1725 in the same location. He married three times due to deaths. His first wife was Mary (1725); second wife, Hannah (1739); Abigail Terrell was the third wife(1773). Our line comes from the marriage to the second wife Hannah. they had 7 children, the most significant of which was Absalom Wofford.

Absalom was born in 1752, 96th Dist., SC. He died on June 02, 1833, Jackson County, Georgia. He married his first cousin Hannah Wofford in South Carolina in 1773. They had 10 children, the most significant of which was Daniel Wofford.

Daniel Wofford was born Nov. 22, 1778, Pendleton, SC and died on October 30, 1846 in Georgia. He married Tempy or Temprance McGehee (pronounced McGee) on December 05, 1808 in Jackson County, Georgia. Daniel and Tempy had 8 children, the most significant of which was Abraham Wofford.

Abraham Wofford was born in 1815 and died in White County, Georgia June 12, 1888. He married Sarah Staten (Staton) in 1833.
They had 11 children, the most significant of which was Joseph D. Wofford.

Joseph D. Wofford was born in 1838. He married Sarah Alexander (date unknown). They had five children that I am aware of, but possibly more. These include Thomas Hendrix Wofford (Grandpa), Cleveland who was a twin to papa, Alma Wofford, Sallie Wofford, Thomas Wofford. (The information in this paragraph was obtained from J.T.) I have some work to do on this group, although I do know that Sallie Wofford married W.T. Kendrick and is buried at Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. This was Grandpa's sister. I later found that Grandpa had another sister, Nancy Jane Wofford.
Apparently Joseph D. passed away when Grandpa was a small lad. Hendrix shows up on the 1900 Census as living with Sallie and her husband W.T. He was 14 at that time.

At age nine he was living with his other sister Nancy Jane and her husband Jacob Wesley Peck. (This information provided by Joy Thomas, Aiken, South Carolina.)

I have located the place where Joseph D. Wofford (Great Grandfather) is buried. I have a hunch that Great Great Grandfather Abraham is buried there also, since this is the Staton-Standridge Family Cemetery located near the White County line in Hall County. As stated previously Abraham married Sarah Staton. I also think I have located the place where Granny Wofford's father was buried in the Clermont area.

As you can see, much progress has been made but, naturally, many questions still remain. In any event, I thought you might be interested in what information I have been able to accumulate through numerous sources.
