Preparing for 1st Grade
There are many things that you can do at home to help your child get ready for 1st grade! These include:
- Read, Read, and Read some more!
- Practice identifying upper and lowercase letters
- Write upper and lowercase letters
- Count to 100 (by 1's, 5's, & 10's)
- Write the numbers to 100
- Practice simple addition and subtraction story problems
- Tell time to the hour and practice to the half hour
- Identify coins and their values
- Count change
- Practice sorting and grouping. (Use cans, boxes, legos, noodles, etc.)
