| I was born in Maryland and have lived my life right on the shores of the Chesapeak Bay. I was blessed with two wonderful parents who gave (and still give) so much love and support to me. I contracted Polio before my second birthday. So, my parents' devotion to me was so essential for my recovery. They managed to give all the love, support, and help imaginable to me, while still caring for and adoring my older brother. I know there must have been times when he perhaps felt set aside because of the necessary attention I needed. However, I never saw or felt any jealousy from him and we grew up to be close. For about the last 20 years I have had a daily battle with Post Polio Syndrome. Please link to my health issues page to learn more about this syndrome and other health issues that are important to me. I began taking piano lessons when I was about 9 years old. My teacher thought I was pretty good and encouraged me to attend the Peabody Institute/Johns Hopkins University. But, I choose not to, and moved on to other things in my life. At the age of 23 I married and subsequently had two beautiful children. My Son was born in 1978 and my daughter in 1980. They are two of the absolute joys of my life.
