The Engagement
It was the evening of July 13, 1999, three days after my birthday, and Thomas came home all depressed telling me he had visited a jeweler and was rejected...basically, he could not afford to buy me an engagement ring.  I tried to be supportive and hide my disappointment.

That night, we went out to dinner and afterwards we went walking along Central Park.  We sat among the steps of the Museum of Natural History and began talking about how glad we both were we had finally found each other and how much we appreciated one another.  All of a sudden, he knelt before me.  I thought he was going to give me a hug, but instead, he presented the ring before me and asked me to marry him.

I remember how utterly surprised I was.  I could not believe this was happening and at the same time, I was angry at him for deceiving me.  He placed the ring on my finger and I started chuckling uncontrollably.  Of course, I accepted his proposal, but not after I playfully hit him a few times for fooling me and making me feel guilty all day :)
This is the posterior view of the statue that stood before the steps we sat on.  Yeah, hahaha....a horse's ass!
Picture taken immediately afer the proposal.  By the way, this is one of Thomas' self portrait attempts...hehehe!
And finally, but not least, a close-up of my engagement ring.
