Flight Officer Kale Messin, Saber Five, is a nineteen year old pilot and leader of Flight Two in the Saber Squadron. There he is a talented, promising young officer. He had to go through a lot to get there, though. Unlike Jarred Fain, who was handed his commission on a silver platter, Kale had to work hard for his. From his youth, he wanted to leave his homeworld and get out into the galaxy, and from the time he was twelve, he worked hard and saved up enough credits to buy passage off-world by the time he was sixteen. He then entered the New Republic Military Academy and intended to become a regular ground troop, but his skill in a snubfighters was recognized and he was trained to fly an X-Wing. Not being a naturally superior flyer, he had to train hard and long, but he finally earned his place in Saber Squadron.
