family
Dear Pam and R
Thank you so much for the
books that have been sent. We picked them up today from the Post Office. The
box was a little broken but still in the post bag, so everything was together.
Both of the kids are very
excited by all the new books and have spent the last hour going over them. M’s
favourite at the moment is “ Making it work - Flight” and is convinced that we
will not be able to get his head out of it. E’s favourites are “the feeling
book” ‘Harold and the purple crayon’ and “the moving book”, ‘Marty and the
Long-Necked Giraffe’. We anticipate some very happy hours enjoying them all. I
will also send a letter of thanks to the book store that has donated them. They
are a great blessing.
Thank you for blessing us in
this way
R and K. , M and E.

Dear R- So glad that the
books got there and that they are meeting a felt need. .... you could turn this
into a mini-writing opportunity :-) Had
you thought about taking some dictation from the kids (or having them write
themselves, if they are keen) about the books that they are reading and include
it in your letter. (hint, hint) One of
the challenges you are facing in developing their literacy skills in such an
isolated situation is finding meaningful reasons/ways for them to interact with
written English.
Have fun!
Pam
