Introduction

The table below contains everything that I am aware of that could be run between 1985 and today. The notable omission is the Mk 1 passenger stock, which I don't have any more and didn't look right next to the Farish equivalents.

Typos aside, all of these items exist. These are all items that I either own or have seen in the flesh with my very own eyes.

I would be interested in hearing from anybody who is aware of additional items or variants that are not on the list. I would also appreciate people pointing out typos or answering the questions where questions are posed. You will be credited in the file unless you specifically ask not to be.

If this list is of any help to anybody other than myself, then the exercise will have been worthwhile.

Usage

I am happy for people to use this list in whole or in part for their own personal records. I am also happy for people to use this list as a subset of a larger list, covering more of the Minitrix range. All I ask is that I am credited for my work.

However, if you intend using this list in whole or in part for an article or a book that is to be published, in any format, whether for profit or not, then please contact me beforehand at this email address. Thank you.

A Note on Stock Codes

Minitrix branded stock has had stock codes expressed as four, five and eight-digit numbers, the larger numbers usually being an expansion of the four digit number. For example the extending rail has been branded "4975", "14975" and "51 4975 00". The UK outline stock generally has five digit numbers on the boxes, although some examples have the eight digit numbers. The four digit numbers are usually on the early (made in the 1960s and 1970s) items.

Hornby Minitrix branded stock has always had three digit numbers, with or without an 'N' prefix, but displayed in various styles. For example, I have examples of the Bauxite brake van branded as "N501", "N 501" and "501" in at least two different typefaces.

A Note on Boxes

Minitrix branded stock originally came in card boxes with a foam or polystyrene insert. They then changed to plastic boxes with clip on lids and the foam insert. The final box type for the UK outline stock is the plastic box with slip on lid and a plastic insert.

Hornby Minitrix branded stock initially came in the plastic boxes with clip on lids and the foam insert. Latterly the models came in the plastic box with slip on lid and a plastic insert.

Some locomotives came in cardboard boxes with polystyrene inserts, but to the best of my knowledge not the Class 47.
