The Snow Day
It was a cold winters night. No snow was forecasted until the end of the week so hoping for a snow day was out of the question. I hated middle school with a passion so anytime I did not have to be there was a blessing. Now that I think of it, most all of my friends hated middle school. I was supposed to go to bed but I was ready to change something. I got a vanilla scented white candle and, I sat in front of my window and lit the candle. My head started talking about a snow day; it was what I needed to take a brake from school. I started concentrating on the candles flame but not sensing its heat but feeling the cold, the snow. I saw the snow falling causing a snow day. I made up this little improvised chant, I cannot remember it now but it was simple, asking for a snow day, praying to the earth, the elements to grant me this need. I extinguished the icy flame after some more visualization and went to sleep. I believe I woke up around 6:30 am, the usual time and looked out from my darkened room, white cold powder lay on the ground, the trees the road, everywhere. The spell had worked? I heard on the radio that all Quincy Public Schools were closed. I had my snow day.
