What Really Happened ?

We heard that the Radarman notified the XO at the approach of the storm.
The XO opted to do nothing. After the storm hit, and worsened, he 'lost it.'
The Supply Officer, a Lt. or Ens., assumed command, sounded General Quarters, and tried to save the ship. If there was one person that could be called a 'HERO,' for my money -- it would be him.

We also heard that the XO tried to bring charges against the junior officer, but that everyone that was asked supported his actions.

Since the ultimate responsibility was still the Captain's, as a result of this he chose to resign his commission -- A DEFINITE LOSS OF A FINE OFFICER.

Again --- Let me state that these are the events to the best of MY recollection.
Any versions printed or reported, that may differ, are neither MY problem, nor any of
MY concern.
