                                                  CAVEMAN TOP 10
Caveman, troglodyte, meet Bertha Butt and other Neanderthals outside Jurassic Park ...

1. Caveman : The Cramps
Without The Cramps no Neanderthals, no 3-D Invisibles, no 5678's, no Sting-Rays and thousands of other bands that play terrific "prehistoric beat". This is from their second album "Psychedelic jungle" and tells the tale of the early 80s cavemen in the USA.
2. Caveman: Tommy Roe
Sheila? Dizzy? Tip Toe Tina? Yes, the same guy, but this 1960 release on Judd is his finest.. Tommy Roe sang a few beautiful r&r songs and the best is undoubtedly Caveman from the beginning of a great decade. Unfortunately it was never a hit record. Strange, I couldn't find a single cover version while it surely deserved one or more.
3. Be a caveman: The Avengers
Prehistoric punk from 1965 on Starburst. Id love being a caveman if I were sure to listen to this music all the time. There are at least three bands that agree with me. The Gravedigger V, the Fuzztones, both from the U.S. and the German Percolators. Every single cover version is worthy enough to buy.
4. Neanderthal man: Hotlegs           (Sickidz)
Both versions are great: the original Fontana release of Hotlegs. Pre-10CC band Hotlegs had a minor hit in 1970 with this one, but it got a great cover version by Sickidz, Cramps protgs from Philadelphia in 1983. After changing into Das Yahoos they reformed as the great Pink Slip Daddy whose "LSD" 10" front sleeve features Poison Ivy's face in the fireplace. I'm also looking for that Neanderthal girl.
5. I was a teenage caveman: Randy Luck
AKA Tommy Miles from Miami, Florida, Randy recorded one 45 on Art in 1958. It's a brilliant spooky song that might have inspired The Cramps for recording their own Caveman.
6. I was a teenage cavewoman: The 5.6.7.8's
Is this the female answer to Randy Luck's non-hit single? These Tokyo Crampettes stole my heart in the late 80s with this song and I was so lucky to see them live once in Spain in 2001.
7. Troglodyte: Jimmy Castor Bunch
Subtitled "Caveman" on a 1972 RCA Victor release. It's one of the funkiest and dirtiest songs Jimmy ever has recorded. Also check out his Bertha Butt's Boogie and King Kong in the same series.
8. Caveman hop: Jerry Coulston
As the first of three 45s on Christy this 1959 recordings "Caveman hop" is Jerry's best effort. It has resurfaced several times on various compilation albums. Lucky us, as the original 45 is very rare & expensive. So c'mon and let's dance at the caveman hop on October 31.
9. Stoneage stomp: The Gravedigger V
One of the few original sounding 80s garage bands from San Diego, California and with one of the best debut albums ever in garage history: "All Black & Hairy".  I'd wish to see troglodytes, troglodykes and troglyshytes dance the Stoneage Stomp on Halloween.
10. Dinosaurs: The Stingrays
Jurassic Park tribute? Hell no, it's Alec Palao, Bal, Mark & MK from North London who are the perfect mix of The Cramps & The Meteors. On the Big Beat comp "These cats ain't nothin' but trash" you can find 4 Stingrays tracks including this prehistoric psychobilly slammer.
