| Care of kits |
| There are three different methods of caring for the kits after kindling. Method one: Leave them alone after the initial check. Only look into the nest after that, without actually handling any of the kits unless there is an obvious problem. This is the �safe� method since there is less risk of the doe biting the kits. Method two: Check the kits over completely every few days to be sure they are healthy, otherwise leave them alone. Method three: This is my prefered method. If the doe trusts you you can handle the kits for a few minutes every day from day 1. This lends itself to kits which are easier to handle as they get older. With any of the three methods the kits will need to be handled often after weaning. |
