Rogier van Otterloo is the most recognized Dutch composer of all times, at least that's what the Dutch people have said for years.Van Otterloo is commonly known as a composer who was at his best on Paul Verhoeven films. Besides Soldier of Oranges, he composed the scores for Turkish Delight (Turks Fruit) and Hot Sweat (Keetje Tippel). His first score of his filmcomposer career was Turkish Delight.In 1975 he had signed a contract with the record label Polygram to do 4 cd's. Soldier of Orange was one of them. In 1977 his score was released on lp and cassette, nut after some while they were ouf og stock. Than many years later a Rogier van Otterloo collector 3cd was released with selections form his filmscore, presented by five tracks: Esther, Ik gooi heel Duitsland plat, Nederland Mag Trots Zijn Op Zijn Leger,Oh My Heroes and off course the main theme Soldaat van Oranje.These ones are totally recoverd, like new with perfect quality. But it wasn't his complete score.The Lp released edtion of 1977 was not only a great thing to listen to, it also contained beautiful inlay. Here is some art.

Van Otterloo has the ability to bring a very exciting score to life. His score is heroic and even knew how to bring
a tragic/sad element to this work.The underscore is depicts the  atmosphere these restistance fighters where
and all the tense that comes with their dangerous jobs.He used heavy brass elements quite a lot for the moments suspense was required.Film producer Rob Houwer wanted Rogier to use the same brass explosion like in the 5th of Beethoven. So the composer did it, but with some slighty differences in notes. The ta-ta effect is incredible.
