Rainer Hensel is known work his work as a composer for Theo van Gogh films. Earlier on he wrote some magnificent score cues for De Pijnbank.Baby Blue is his most ambitious work, due to the fact that the composer had more money on hand than normally.Most Dutch movies get financed from various foundations, like this one, what means there aint a great deal of money to be spend on filmscoring.He got the chance to record his score with the City Of Prague orchestra.Brian Tyler for instant recorded his score for Children of Dune with this same orchestra..Hensel takes took on the piano,synthesizers and saxophone himself.This combination seems to reflect some work of Angelo Badalamenti; atmospheric,light and now and then some mysterious elements.Jazz-noir it seems.Hensel can write some nice thematic things and nows how to motivate his colleges, who have workes along side him on the score.The most haunting wordless voice of Peggy van Mossevelde makes her entrance here and there and gives it a dreaming/flowing effect.Since the film plays in a exotic location, tracks like ''Otra Banda'' contain this electronic Caribean atmosphere.For the thriller that Baby Blue is, it's rather weird to not rely on so much tension of Hensel.Instead its a more light, beautiful, calm score.
