Douglas College
WEEEEEEEE I've been waiting all week for this!  Today Senior band and choir went on a little all day field trip to Douglas College!  it was so great!  The welcome table was filled with chocolates eeheehee handfuls.  We had to wear name tags to show the world our names.  And then we went into this concert hall and then the College band played for us.  They had a harp!  there was someone playing a harp!  I love the harp.  Then they invited us down to come play with them with the music they gave us.  I was a little shocked because the music looked rather difficult to cite read, and we had just gotten it on the bus that morning.  And the other schools that were there had time to practice it!  Yeah sooooooo there was one part where woodwinds played while the harp played over it and it was so cool.

After that we had to put our instruments in this room and it was tagged like it was valet parking or something.  And then we were off to our next class, which was music theory, which was really interesting.  woo!  and then I had my one hour break, and Elisa and Carolyn had there's as well so I spent my lunch time with them.  we ate lunch in the cafeteria there and then we explored a little.  We listened to the choir sing and it sounded so unlike our choir even some of our students were in it.  it was so nice.  And then we found another box of choclate and grabbed a few...

I still had time to kill before my next class so we went down this hall and there were a bunch of practice rooms and there was this one with a grand piano in it and I carefully looked around and the guy who was standing right beside the room was like..."You can go in" and I whispered "Are you sure?"  and he was like "Yes...don't worry."  So we went in.  And we played on the grand piano.  Which I now realize wasn't the first time I've played on a grand piano before because Julia has one and i played on hers before.

And then I had my master class.  It was a little disappointing.  We were there to learn new things about the clarinet.  I didn't learn anything new at all on how to play it better.  And that was a little disappointing.  besides the fact that it sounded like he was teaching us how to teach kids how to play the clarinet, as if we were kids.

Then I went to a music history class which was interesting because we learned how instruments today have evolved in sound and shape over the centuries of long ago.  And we also were able to sample what they sounded like too with a recordingthe professor put on for us.  Then I had an Aural skills class.  Which was a little boring because he taught us something that we had just learned two days before coming to Douglas.  SO yeah.  And then we waited outside this large door with a ramp.  My bum kept shuffling down this ramp and I couldn't stop moving until mike a genius suggested I sit on the traction bit.  and then I stop sliding back.  Then carts of cheesies and chips and pop began to roll by and we were commenting on how we wouldn't mind taking it off their hands and such.  Little did we know it was really for us.

WEEE they fed us junk food and pop and it was all good.  We handed in these forms that we got all the teachers of our classes to sign to enter into this draw.   The main prize was a Yamaha Keyboard donated by Tom Lee Music.  WEEE I won it.  They pulled out my name.  and I won it.  woooh! I won a keyboard.  I've never won anything in my life.  WEE!  So yeah.  it was great.  and they took photos with all the winners.  WEE and then I had to carry that bulky box with the funky keyboard inside it out to the bus.  And people were like, oh, let me take that off your hands for ya, and I'm like haha no.  EEE and then we got on the bus and I didn't sit with it.  I left it at the front.  After we got off the bus and back into the building *with the keyboard* I saw that Joseph didn't get smallville from where I cleverly left it for him because the room was locked.  And then I realized that I couldn't play ultimate because I had everything there but my running shoes.  And then I didn't know how I was going to get home with the bulky keyboard and then mike was kind enough to run home and get his car and bring it back and give me a ride.  WEE thanks you're the best!

And then I got home and my sister was like what the heck is that?  and I'm like. It's a keyboard.  and she's like, where the heck did you get it from?  and I was like, I won it.  and she was like, cool.  and that is all.
