Skeeler

During the summer I like to go rollerblading or skeelering as we call it here in the Netherlands.

Here you see a picture I took in 1996 of a race at the track in Nieuwkuyk. The guy in the front is Erik Hulzebosch.

Cactus Speed Classic II

In 1998 - on the day after Halloween - I skated my first marathon on the road. It was in the Arizona Desert in a race called the Cactus Speed Classic II. Half way I broke a bold which made the right front wheel run poorly. A mechanical team arrived quickly but had never seen a rollerblade like my Zandstra before. Still they did a fine attempt to repair the skate and away I went. So perhaps I could have done better than 2 hours and 23 minutes but it was a great experience! In the picture below you might be able to spot me on the far left (orange shirt, silver helmet).

These days I ride a pair of Raps Target Skeelers with one Royal Victory (r) and one Viking Marathon Special Boot (l).
