Cycling

In the summer I like to go cycling. I used to be a member of a cycle club called Wielervereniging Antilopen (which is Dutch for Anti Walking, was formerly known as De Zwaluw Vlijmen and now is called Team Brabant 2000).

Cylcosportives

Together with my skate mates I have cycled a lot. We did quite a few editions of Liege-Bastogne-Liege (also known as Luik-Bastenaken-Luik or Tilff-Bastogne-Tilff) quite a few times. Also we spent a couple of summer holidays in the mountains camping and cycling. Here is a list of the mountains I climbed on my bicycle with my buddies:

Me & My Bike

When I first started cycling I bought a cheap bike called Giant Peloton. This was a fine starter bike but after a few years I became more demanding. So my current bicycle - which I like to refer to as My Little Red Girl Friend - was custom build in 1995 by my friend and skate mate Martien Vermeulen out of:

For a short while I have used the Cinelli Spinaci steering handles.

 

Time Trial

This is the kind of cycling I really like! Especially for time trials I had a bike called 'Panasonic Team Time Trial'. In 1995 I finished 5th in the Regional Championships for Class A Amateurs. I have won the Eindhoven Ice Skate Club's Time Trial, called the Vressel Tijdrit, in 1993, 1994 and 1996. Also I did some Relay Triathlons with a couple of my friends, like the Nuenen Trio Triathlon. Some results I have placed here.

I sold the bike a few years back and stopped time trials but last year I did another Relay Triathlon in Eindhoven on the Little Red Girl Friend with two of my colleagues forming team Water Winners.
