So I was sitting around one day, bored to tears! I mean how much cleaning, cooking, and working on the computer can one person tolerate?
Well says I to me, get a plan woman! I decided that I would take every Wednesday and go job hunting. Time to take part two of my life in tow.
Wednesday dawned and I was ready, up to the strip mall I went and walked into a dry goods store ( linens, curtains, etc) I filled out the application only to hear, We may be going out of business in two weeks so Ill hold your application , If I could Id hire you right now! Talk about a double edge sword. I thanked the manager for her time and proceeded to Walmart. ( better known as wally world to some folks).
I walked back to the application area and lo and behold, you filled it out on a computer! Of course I had problem after problem until a nice lady came out and fixed the stubborn thing. The next day I got a call to come in for an interview, I acted shocked , which I was, and the lady said this is not an Aprils fool joke. So come Friday I went in for my interview. She questioned me on a few answer to psychological questions hidden in the application. To my surprise it was the same lady who fixed the computer, head of Personnel!
The following week, I got a call to come in on Friday for orientation. I was told at the interview that you get paid for orientation! I liked that, but oh my I almost fell asleep during some of the movies, and the paper work, phew, thought I was signing my life away.
As I was leaving the conference room with the other six that applied, I was asked if I could work the next day, I said no, but I was theirs starting Sunday after 11, so I am now a working woman, and I love it. Contrary to what has been spreading around about Walmart, it is a good company, good benefits, no nonsense will be accepted from the employees and none to be given to the customers.
I get to walk one mile every time I work, from the front door to the time clock, and for my breaks and lunch. So you know I will be shedding unwanted pounds!
I like this stage of my new life. I am glad that I picked up good work habits from my family, and soooo glad to be associating with people and just think, I have a pay check coming in again. Not bad after twenty plus years of not working!
Try it, you just may like living again.
