" Lucky Me!"

OK,OK,OK! I will be at Wal-Mart for 3 months, ha-ha, had my 90day evaluation, and still maintain a position there.(Lucky me!)
Someone said to me a few months after I lost Rich, go get an easy job , like a greeter at Wal-Mart! Remind me to kick that person in his sit down! Oh was he ever so wrong!! (He should take my job for 1 week)I have found that there is a lot more than saying "Welcome to Wal-Mart!).
When the rains come down, we dry the shopping carts, hand out plastic umbrella bags and keep the carts coming in, of course is it bedlam when the "cart-wranglers"come in with wet carts and we scramble to keep the dry ones separated! There has got to be a better way!!! ( we get to bring the rags home and wash and dry and return to the store)
Customers can be nasty! Have had them get angry cause they are in a hurry and the alarm goes off, I have to chase them down to check receipts ( I have learned to run again!) Have has shoplifters brazenly walk out with a cart full of stuff and keep going, well I must say ignorance must be bliss and they must be ecstatic!
I've had customers drop returns on the floor and say hurry up! Well
now, what's wrong with this picture?
Have had people try to go through with stuff and when I check the receipt, it's the wrong receipt, then we wait, while they get angry to find the right one. ( Don't blame me!)
Have people come in and come straight to me for directions to what they are looking for, when I am not alone up front , I take them to the item. ( That's what Sam Walton wanted)
People say they love Wal-Mart and wouldn't think of going to another store. Well we don't carry everything but by the looks of the warehouse, yes been there also, we have to!!
OH and the thrill of the planned shoplifting, a tip from an observant associate, a call to security, lock downs, cashier notifications, etc, and the wait, only to see them run from the store cause they is trapped!
Then the little ones walking around and the frantic parents, well we also baby sit while "Code Adam" goes into effect in reverse, we have also had them for lost children, and boy our eyes and senses come alive.
Alas, time to clock out, 1/8th of a mile walk to the clock, another 1/8th of a walk to the front door and I am hostage no longer! Until tomorrow when I open, I get to work at 5:30, clock in at AM, go up front and vacuum if necessary (always!) and wash the glass in the doors, get out necessary equipment, and chase customers out at 6:45! NO WE ARE NOT OPEN TILL 7! Not a cashier in site.
Well life goes on and it is wonderful, I am busy, I talk to some interesting people and if you every need me, look for me at the nearest Wal-Mart!
