| I'm tired of hearing people say that music sucks right now. Although I don't like most of the music currently being played on the radio and MTV, there are some bands out there that I think are really fantastic and exciting--they're just harder to find. That's why I made this page. I've listed a bunch of my favorite bands (in no particular order), some of them you're sure to recognize, and others you might not. If there are any bands that you think I'd like that aren't on my list, then e-mail me and tell me about them! | |||||||||||||||
| Belle and Sebastian--if you like accoustic driven, singer-songwriter type music, then you will love this band. They are amazing! Check out their album The Boy With the Arab Strap. (Similar artists that I also like: Nick Drake, The High Llamas, and Elliot Smith.) | |||||||||||||||

| Imperial Teen--if you like the Breeders, then you might like this band. Check out their second album What is Not to Love? (Similar artists I also like: The Breeders and The Pixies.) | |||||||||||||||
| Stereolab--All of their albums are incredible--especially Emperor Tomato Ketchup and Mars Audiac Quintet. (Similar artists I like: The High Llamas, Komeda, and maybe The Velvet Underground because the singer's voice reminds me of Nico) The Velvet Underground--This is one of the most influential bands to come out of the 60's. That's why it's a crying shame that so few people listen to them. I like all of their albums The Lemmonheads--It's a Shame About Ray is, in my opinion, a perfect album. Every song is as delicious as the song before it. The Breeders--If you like the Pixies you'll probably like Kim Deal's band The Breeders. Check out Last Splash. It is awesome. The Pixies--If you don't have any of their CD's yet, go get the double CD Death to the Pixies. The first disk is a compilation of a lot of their best songs, and the other disk is a live recording. I think they sound so much better live by the way. Any other Pixies fans agree? The Smashing Pumpkins--I especially like their early stuff, but Machina is pretty awesome. Siamese Dream is probably my favorite album of all time. Yatsura--if you like the Sonic Youth album Dirty, then you'd probably like Yatsura's album We Are Yatsura (Similar artists I like: Sonic Youth and Pavement.) Sonic Youth--favorite albums are Dirty, Experimental Jet Set Trash and No Star, and Washing Machine Aphex Twin--his music boggles my mind--I LOVE it! My favorite album of his is the Richard James Album. The first track on that album is so beautiful. The Come to Daddy EP is good also, but I don't care very much for the song Come to Daddy. Yo La Tengo--if you like Belle and Sebastian, then check out Yo La's album I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One Radiohead--OK Computer, in my opinion, is truly a perfect album. My Bloody Valentine--If you like the Cocteau Twins and Sonic Youth you'll probably like this extremely influential band. Check out their album Loveless. Hole--Live Through This is an incredible album. Every single song is mind-blowingly awesome. Nine Inch Nails--Broken and The Downward Spiral are my favorite albums of his/theirs (whatever), but The Fragile is pretty awesome. The Dandy Warhols--Great chilling-out music. Some of there songs are more upbeat and bouncey, but most are very spacey and beautiful. Check out Come Down |
