A nature poem Sunlight peeks over the hills And sparkles on the dewy grass. Crystal drops of water are precious diamonds. Birds fill the air and give voice to A music sweeter than any ever heard. The trees sway in light breezes breathing gently. Leaves whisper and speak Tales of days gone by. The morning is new. Life is born In animals and flowers Which lift their petals to the rising sun To show their pure beauty. The sky is clear and blue As is the water below Which laps at the shore In an unceasing cycle As day begins. The sun is setting. The sky is crimson and orange, Bright patches of colour. Shadows lie on the ground Still and peaceful As the wind dies into darkness And the birds quiet their song And the music of the day ends. The sun sleeps, beneath the horizon. The sky darkens, deep blue As the stars wink in and out And a last breeze goes through the forest. The lake is still and calm. The waves are quiet. Moonlight glistens off the glassy surface. The night begins, is born And stars wheel overhead In their endless pattern Never ceasing, always shining A cycle of pure, cool light That dies only when the morning comes again.
