Never Taught It's a cold, dark, Harrowing world. Teens feel alone In the terrifying pain Many of them endure. Take their own life? Why, it's not a question To their parents Who are in obvious denial. "My little angel would Never do such a thing," They'd say. It's such a horrifying secret Many of us keep, The secret of depression. It steals our hopes, It thrashes our dreams. In return, It gives us Hopelessness and Helplessness. To many teens Experiencing this evil, Their parents soon Have to come to reality With the pain their child felt. "How could our little angel Have done this?" It's called depression And it isn't a phase of our 'Growing up'. Many aren't as fortunate As those of us who are surviving it. For us who are surviving it, We have learned to cope. Unfortunately, The others were never taught.
