American Torn Apart God's Life-Giving Rain The young mother holds the small head tightly to her breast Crying non-stop for the past few hours she nuzzles her mother’s chest Her tiny belly is bloated and she is weak unto death As the young mother pleads to God to keep this child’s breath The mother can do nothing for she hasn’t eaten in 3 days She has no more milk to give and so to God she prays She has never asked for anything, except for her daughter to live But God is not in a merciful mood and life He does not give The child looks to the heavens and slowly closes her eyes Once more time she gasps in pain and then the child dies The mother holds the lifeless body and then she starts to wail People around her try to give her comfort, but to no avail How could He destroy a baby? grief tears the mother apart As unbearable agony consumes her for He has ripped open her heart He could have prevented this, providing Father so profane What loving God could do this? All she needed was a little rain Dustin Germain 10/21/01
