Moment A gentle rain falls to the earth, Warm and soft as a mother's kiss. A breeze sways the treetops, Pausing to caress every leaf. Soothing silence comes, Encompassing all. A child lies curled in a ball, Shivering in the cool night air. A baby whimpers, too weak to cry, Too hungry to survive. An adult sits alone by a fire, Too lost to notice its death. A man sees through a gun, And pulls the trigger. A family sits by a bed, Watching the line go flat. A lost soul chooses, And breathes its last. A child smiles in innocence, No cloud passes its eyes. A man smiles in delight, Watching the numbers grow bigger. A couple smiles at each other, Their love overflowing. A heart explodes in love and joy, Expanding forever outward. Anger burns between two, A consuming fire. Sorrow bursts a heart, Gushing outward. Tears of sadness flow, Rivers never ending. Tears of joy come forth, Out of the heart. Drops of frustration fall, And sight is blurred. A child trusts the Lord, 'Though without understanding. And adult trusts the Lord, 'Though without seeing. An old man trusts the Lord, And to Him he returns. Dana Christensen
