The Computer”

At 7:30 AM on January 12, 2005, Bob turned on the television. He saw that there was a special price on a good computer. It had a big hard drive and a 17” monitor. So then he went to the phone and dialed the number. There was an operator on the other end of the line. “Hello. May I help you?” Then Bob froze and about 3 seconds later he replied, “Yes, I would like to order the special computer offer.” and told her all about it. Then the operator told Bob that he would pay for it by COD and he would get the computer in about 4 to 6 weeks. The next morning, Bob turned the television on at the same station. He didn't see anything. It was all snowy. So he then called the cable company and told them why he wasn't getting the station. The cable company told Bob that the station never existed. Bob then felt scared and wondering if that order yesterday morning was all a dream while he was hanging up the phone. He then thought about it for a long time. After awhile he forgot about it and was thinking about calling his friend and ask him about it. Bob picked up the phone and dialed his friend's phone number. “Hi, this is Ryan. What do you want?” “Hi, this is your friend Bob and I was wondering if you could come over because I wanted to talk to you.” “Sure. I will be right over.” Then Bob hung up the phone and turned on his scanner to listen if anything happened. He didn't hear anything. Then five minutes later, his friend Ryan came over. Bob told Ryan everything about what happened. Ryan didn't believe me because the computer only cost $75.00 and that's really cheap for a computer. So Ryan left. The next morning, Bob got a knock on his door. He went to answer it and it was a UPS guy. “Yeah. May I help you?” “Yeah, is this Bob?” he replied. “yes it is.” Here's your packages. At the time, he was thinking about the computer. Then he asked the UPS guy what it was. He told me that he doesn't know but theres four big boxes. They unloaded the boxes from the truck to Bob's house. Then the UPS guy asked for his signature and $75. Bob gave him both and the UPS guy left. Bob closed the door and started to open the boxes. He was scared. he didn't know what was going to happen. He opened them slowly and found a brand new desktop computer system. He put it all on his old stand where his phone is at. After he hooked it all up, he called Ryan. When Bob was talking to Ryan, he didn't believe what he was saying to him. Then after awhile, Ryan gave up and told Bob that he was going to come over and look at the computer. In the meantime, Bob looked over the computer with amazement. He couldn't believe it. About fifteen minutes later, Ryan knocked at Bob's door. He walked in and looked at the computer. It was a Dell 4.5GHz CPU, 500GB hard drive, and 5GB of RAM. It was a really good computer. He couldn't believe that it costs $75. He asked Bob if he had turned it on yet and he said no. So, Bob went over to the computer where the power button was and pressed it. It started to make a weird noise and the screen was flashing for 3 seconds. Then it asked for a name and passcode. Bob went over and typed all that information into the computer and then after he pressed 'Enter', the screen went black. They didn't know what happened. So then they reset the computer and nothing happened. He first thought the power went off, but the tv was working on the same outlet. Then Bob went through all of the discs that came with the computer and found a boot disk. He put the disc in the computer and pushed the power button. Nothing was happening. Then five seconds later, the screen was blue and it said, “Welcome to NapCo.” on the computer screen. Then Bob pressed enter and it went to a screen that had five icons and a trash can and there was a pointer. “It looks like Linux.” Ryan said. Then Bob was looking for games or programs. He couldn't find anything. Then the screen started flashing. Then we saw sparks inside the computer, so Ryan pulled the plug and we both backed away from it. Then Bob put the computer back in the boxes and sent it back. Ten days later they got a letter from the NapCo INC company saying that they got a computer from you and they don't know why they have it because we don't make computers, we make food. Then Bob put the letter down and then just shook and was very scared.
