Into the Future”

Chapter One: The Mission

Steve awoke up from a big crash. He thought about the future, so he went to buy a book on someone who could predict the future. He found a book on Amazon.com. The book's title is Nostradamus: The Final Reckoning. There's a lot of predictions in this book. He skips through the book. He finds something interesting. It says that their going to get vehicles to go up in space and goto other planets. The prediction is made in 2050 by Arthur C. Clarke. He thinks about that for awhile. He thinks it would be cool to goto another planet opposite of Earth. He thinks to himself that he must find a way to go into time. In other words, it's time travel. He knows this one guy that loves time travel. He goes to that guy and asks him about it. “Is their anyway we could make a time machine?” The boy asks Bob. “Well Steve, I think it's possible. I think I could give it a try.” Bob says it like he knows everything. “I will build something and tomorrow you can come over and look at it.” Bob says. We can call it, “The Mission.” Steve left Bob's house and went to Radio Shack. He went in and thought for a second. He just remembered something. Steve left Radio Shack and took a couple steps towards the pay phone. He called Bob to ask him what parts he would need to build the time machine. Bob said a whole list of things to buy. Steve went into the Radio Shack store and bout everything Bob wanted. He was very lucky because four things he wanted, he bought the last of them. After he bought everything Bob wanted. He took all that stuff to Bob's house. Bob said thanks and Steve left. Steve went to his house and turned on the television. He was shocked of what he saw on tv. It said on the news that somebody tried to build a time machine, but it didn't go fast enough to go into time. Steve hurried to his phone and called Bob. “Hi Bob. Turn it on the news channel. Something important is going on.” Steve said really fast. Bob said back to Steve, “I see. I will hurry and build this time machine.” Steve hung up the phone and turned off the television. Steve really wanted a time machine to see another planet. He was thinking how cool that would be.

Chapter Two: Missing Parts

The next day at 12:30PM, Bob called Steve and told him that he was done building the time machine. Steve got all excited. Bob told Steve to goto his house as soon as possible. Steve hung up the phone and drove to Bob's house. He got there in seven minutes. He went to Bob's garage and knocked. He went in and it had been covered up by a tarp. Bob said to Steve, “Are you ready to see it?” “Yes I am.” Steve said excitedly. Bob took off the tarp and Steve's eyes just glowed. It looked awesome. it was blue and was as tall as an outhouse, about the same size. It is really cool. “Does it work.” Steve told Bob. “I don't know. I haven't tried.” He replied. Steve was really anxious to try it out. So Bo turned on his computer. He typed in a secret password and then he turned the time machine on. There were blue lights and black lights all over it that is synchronized. it looks really cool. “It takes ten minutes to warm up.” Bob said. “Ok. I don't mind waiting.” Steve replied. Steve was getting nervous and scared about the time machine. After ten minutes was up, the time machine started to make beeping noises. Then the lights stopped to synchronized Bob pressed a button on the time machine. Steve went into the time machine. When he got into the machine, his eyes just glowed. Above his head was a mirror, in front of him was a lot of buttons, a LCD Screen, and a cd system. Bob gave Steve some instructions of what to do. Steve read them to himself and pressed a couple of buttons and the door closed. After the door closed, he froze for a second. Then he slowly typed in the year, month, date, and time of destination. He typed in July 4, 2090 at 12:00PM EST. Then there is two red buttons. One says START and one says ABORT. His hand started to shake. Then after five minutes, he pressed START. Then he closed his eyes. Steve felt like he was going 250mph. Actually it wasn't moving at all. Bob was outside and he was really confused because it wouldn't go into the future. The computer was saying “WARNING:BOOT ERROR.” So I hurried and pressed ABORT and opened the time machine doors. Steve was just standing there with his eyes closed and arms crossed. You could tell he was scared. Then after awhile, Steve came out of the time machine. “Wow, that was fast!” Bob said to Steve, “I didn't go anywhere. There was an error. Could you try to fix it.” Bob was looking on the computer to find out why there was an error. Steve was just standing there shocked. About ten minutes later, Bob found out what is wrong with the time machine. It is missing a reluctor system. He went on the Internet to find where he could buy that kind of system. He searched for about eight minutes and couldn't find anything on a reluctor system. Then he called Radio Shack and asked him about it and they said, “I have no idea what your talking about.” I asked Steve if he knew anything, but he said no, I have no idea. Steve left in five minutes. Bob was really anxious to find out where to get a reluctor system. He went back on the computer to search for it.

Chapter Three: Reluctor System

The next day about noon, Bob called Steve to tell him that he found a reluctor system, but its not very cheap because you need a lot of tools and different kinds of electronics you have to buy. “Everything put together costs $250.00 plus an extra $50.00 for shipping and handling fees.” Steve said, “I will get the money you need and be at your house at 5:00PM.” In the meantime, Bob went and took the cover off the time machine. He looked at it for about ten minutes. He was looking where to install the system. It took him awhile, but he finally found it. Five minutes later, Steve was at the door. Bob went to open it. It was the UPS. I was wondering why hes here because I didn't order anything. It is a remote control. I was confused. Well I opened it and it said something about a time machine. I went down to my basement and pressed a button. “Wow! This thing is really cool!” Bob said. Then the bell rang again. Bob ran upstairs and answered the door. It was Steve. He had a big brown envelope. “What's in the envelope?” Bob said to Steve. “A lot of money.” Steve replied. Oh, you got it. Yes! Bob ran downstairs and printed out the order form. Then he put the money in an envelope and sent it. “It probably take about a week.” Bob said. I can't wait. Bob went on the Internet for instructions to install the system. It took him awhile but he finally did fine the instructions. He printed them out. He wasn't very happy because it was six pages long. After it was done printing out, Steve left. He didn't want to stay there forever. One week later Bob got a knock at the door. Bob answered it. It was the UPS man and he had a lot of boxes. I helped to carry them in. I put them all down in my basement. I opened them all up and it was the reluctor system. Bob is all happy. Then he called Steve to help him put it together. Steve arrives in five minutes. Steve reads the instructions. While Bob is putting it together. It took Bob three hours, but he finally gets it together. After they get it together, they are both really tired so Steve leaves and Bob goes to bed. The next morning Steve turns on the tv to the news. He was getting bored, but then he saw something interesting. They are talking about that guy who tried to create a time machine, but failed to do it. It says on the news that he said, “I am missing a system and when I get this system, it will work.” So then I hurried over to Bob's house and told him about it. He just said, “Never mind about that. We will be the one who's famous.”

Chapter Four: The Year 2090

The next day, we had installed the reluctor system. Its done. Bob called Steve and asked him to come over. Five minutes later, he was at the door. “Do you remember what to do?” Bob asked. “Yeah, but I still need that paper that had the instructions.” Steve replied. Steve went into the time machine. Steve set the month, day, year, and time to July 4, 2090 12:00PM EST. Steve pressed start and it started to count down from 10. Steve was getting scared. He just closed his eyes. A minute later, it was totally silent. Steve was still in the time machine. He didn't know what to do. Then after like five minutes, I opened the door. “Wow! This place is awesome! I can't believe it!” Steve said very excitedly. Every building around him was sky scrapers. It looked like the old New York City five times bigger. Steve looked around and his eyes glowed. He walked around a little bit. He didn't see anymore. He didn't see any cars either. “Wow! Look at that!” Steve said with amazement. He saw hovercrafts. He has never seen anything like that before. They were all going over his head. Some even went over the buildings. He remembered where he was and then went and explored a little bit. He saw someone walking down where this place is. “Excuse me. Where am I.” Steve said politely to the strange man. “This is Manhattan, New York.” The stranger said. “Ok. See you later.” Steve replied. Steve then walked to Queens, New York because that's where Bob lives. Bob probably doesn't live there now, but some of his relatives probably do. By the time I got there, the sun was just setting. He knocked on the door. “Bob? Is that you?” “No. This is John.” the strange man said. “Do you know a Bob that used to live here?” Steve said. “Yes, I do. He is my dad. I do look a lot like him. “John replied. “Is there still a time machine in the basement?” Steve asked John. “Yeah, there is. How did you know.” Well I helped build it. That is the first time machine ever to work. I used the time machine to get here. I really don't like this place either. Theres too much stuff and so high. “Do you think I could use it to get back?” Steve asked John. “Sure, but you have to do it tomorrow.” John answered. “Could I sleep here?” Steve asked John. Sure, on the couch in the living room. Ok. Good night.

Chapter Five: The Journey Home

The next day. Steve woke up. He went and looked for John. He was still sleeping. I wrote a note to tell him good-bye and thanks for everything. Then I went down to the basement and turned on the time machine. I said good-bye and pressed start. Then I heard someone calling my name. I woke up and opened the door. “What do you want?” Steve said with anger. “Hey Steve. You must of dozed off because you never went anywhere. Its been fifteen minutes.” Bob said. “I did? I didn't go anywhere?” Steve said like he didn't know. “Yeah, you were asleep the whole time.” Bob replied. Wow! That was some dream. “I had a dream that I went in time to 2090 and I saw your son, John. That was pretty much it. I didn't like it. Everything was big.” Steve replied. “The time machine was never even plugged in.” Bob said. “I am never going to touch that time machine again.” Steve replied. Then Steve put his arms up in the air and left. Bob never saw Steve again. He had no idea where he could be. Bob never touched the time machine either. He just left it covered up with the tarp and said to himself, the future will come to me and I won't let me goto the future...

On January 14, 2003, Bob went to his basement and he said to himself, “What would it be like in 2005?” He thought for a second...

He called his judge and asked him if he could change his name to Robert Herdman.

Two weeks later, thats what his name was. He went to his basement one night and thought about the future. He went in his time machine and sat for a couple of minutes. Then he finally stood up and pressed the buttons. He set the date to October 12, 2005. He typed in “Reality.” (That means he will goto the future and he will be the same age now and he will do what he would be doing in 2005 if he lived that long.) Then the machine made a lot of noises. Boom! He was off........?
