Question:Why is Dusk Forest a WeyrHold and not a Weyr?
Answer:
A WeyrHold generally indicates that the place is a home for
dragons, but it also serves as more than just a place to combat
Thread. WeyrHolds generally have more free time on their hands, and
so their riders are able to help sustain themselves, meaning that
tithes aren't as strenuous. Dragonriders are also able to learn a
craft.
Dusk Forest is able to be a WeyrHold due to it's location. With most
of the area around it being bare mountain, and being so close to the
ocean, Dusk Forest must protect a limited amount of greenery.
Threadfalls are relatively short, lasting only a handful of hours -
two or three on average. If the Wingleaders so wished, Threadfalls
could even be cut back, with dragons flying only over Sunset Valley
Hold and allowing the Thread to fall harmlessly onto the rocky
mountainside.
Question: Why is Dusk Forest labeled "Version 2.0"?
Answer: Dusk Forest is in it's second incarnation. The first one ended
about a year and a half ago when it's Board decided that, due to inactivity,
it might be best to merge Dusk Forest with it's sister Weyr, Dawn Meadows.
Unfortunately, things deteriorated quickly, and many of the people from Dusk Forest
decided to leave. The original Dusk Forest board got back together, and
decided to reopen the club. Thus, the second version of DF.
Question: What is the difference between the Board and the Council?
Answer: The Board is usually "behind the scenes," doing the OOC paperwork
for the club. They approve personas, make sure everybody is fulfilling their
rank requirements... basically, they keep the club running smoothly.
The Council is completely in character. It favors a persona over the writer. These
people are what keeps the club running. They create plots, and see that they are
implemented. They approve wing and location transfers, and decide if an apprentice
should be permitted to walk the tables and become a journeyman.
