Question: What types of dragons are there on Pern?
Answer:

Color Gender Impresses
Gold Female Heterosexual females only
Bronze Male Heterosexual males only
Brown Male Heterosexual males (RARE females)
Blue Male Homosexual, bisexual males (RARE females)
Green Female Homosexual males, heterosexual/bisexual females

Question: What if I want a dragon that is not listed up there?
Answer: Sorry, but it is not allowed. Per Anne McCaffrey's rules, only the abovementioned dragon colors are allowed. You can not have a white, or a purple, or a pink polka dotted. Nor can you have a male goldrider, or a female bluerider.

Question: What is the size of a gold dragon? Or a green dragon?
Answer: The following lists average dragon sizes. You are requested to chose one within the limit; exceptions need Board approval. Keep in mind that this is adult dragon size. Also keep in mind that Dusk Forest is a club that allows riders from all time-lines. If your persona is from the 1st Pass, they will be a quarter the size of those listed here; somebody from the 10th Pass may be slightly bigger. Dragon sizes stopped changing as much around the 9th Pass or so, so you will never see a dragon twice the size of Ramoth! For more help, just ask the Board!

Color Length Wingspan
Gold 38-42 feet 63-70 feet
Bronze 35-38 feet 58-63 feet
Brown 30-35 feet 50-58 feet
Blue 25-30 feet 41-50 feet
Green 20-25 feet 33-41 feet

Question: Who decides the winner of my dragon's mating flight?
Answer: Since the club is ruled by a Council, and not a Weyrleader/Weyrwoman pair, the winners of all flights are chosen by the female dragon's writer.

Question: How often are mating flights and hatchings?
Answer: Greens rise to mate about every three months; due to some tinkering by Kitti Peng and the fact that they chew firestone, greens will never lay eggs. Golds rise to mate every six months, although it can be more or less frequently. One month after they have risen, the gold will clutch her eggs. Egg color distribution, as well as who Impresses what, needs Board approval. One month of hardening on the sands and the eggs are ready to hatch and start weyrling training.

Question: Can my dragonrider be a crafter?
Answer: Since we are at a WeyrHold, absolutely! Most of the area around Dusk Forest WeyrHold is either bare mountain, or ocean. Only a small area around the Hold is vulnerable to Thread. Thus, dragonriders have more spare time, not needing to fight Thread more than once a week or so. Dragonriders are more than welcome to take up a craft in their spare time, as this helps the Weyr, and saves the Hold some of its tithes.

Question: So... just how much spare time does my rider have?
Answer: Think of being a dragonrider as being in the military. Weyrling training is sort of like basic training (boot camp). A dragonrider's daily life would probably be something like the chart below. One part of the day is spent in practice, the other part in assigned duties. Depending on the wing your rider is on, the schedule may be reversed with duties in the morning, and practice in the afternoon.
