Persona Name: Quinne
Gender: Female
Sexual preference: Heterosexual
Persona Age: 24
Birthing date: M1, D3
Occupation and Rank: Goldrider, Jr. Journeywoman Composer
Persona Location: Dusk Forest WeyrHold
Owned By: the Club

Physical Description: A delicate looking woman, Quinne is about 56, but barely weighs 125 pounds soaking wet. Unlike most riders, she doesn't have a muscular build, but has a wiry strength that she's developed over the past five turns of being a rider. It fits her though - a muscular build would look rather strange on a woman with her features.

She keeps her dark brown hair short, in a pixie cut that frames her face with spiky bangs and the hint of curls. Her brown eyes are a deep chocolate shade that lightens in bright sunlight, or darkens to black when she's annoyed or angry, with a thick double line of lashes. Her features are a bit irregular, being slightly mismatched. The big sad eyes, short and straight nose, lips on the thin side, and deeply tanned skin don't really work together, but most people agree that Quinne's a reasonably attractive woman.

Personality: Quinnes the type of woman who has to work at assuming the authority that most riders just seem to be born with. She's almost too friendly for her own good, which has created problems in the past when it came down to disciplining riders that happened to be her friend as well. In recent months though, she's been making an effort to draw her boundaries as to where friendship ends and leadership begins.

She's not particularly temperamental, although she can get frazzled easily and is sometimes overly emotional. Because of the treatment she received growing up, she can get supremely annoyed by people who insist on hovering, or just paying too much attention to her, even Jaerith, but on other occasions she feels an acute loneliness when it seems like no one particularly cares what's going on with her.

History: Born prematurely, the Healers never thought Quinne would live past her first few hours out of the womb. But hours became days, weeks, and even months. Before they knew it the girl was hitting her first birthingday.

As she got older, it became apparent that Quinne would never be a normal child. Small, and more often than not sickly, she looked as if she'd break if you just tapped her on the shoulder. For the child of runners - notoriously healthy people, thanks to all their exercise - it was nearly embarrassing. Her mother in particular was careful to keep Quinne away from anything that could possibly harm her, and when it came time for the girl to choose a craft, she tried desperately to make sure the girl wouldn't pick one that would be physically demanding. Left with the choice of hearing her mother's admonishments and recriminations, or going along, Quinne took the easy route. She joined the Harper Hall at Fort Hold (tm).

During her apprenticeship one of the older journeywomen took her under her wing, and started the girl on activities outside the boundaries of her class work. She introduced Quinne to runners (the animal version, this time) and the joys of riding them, among other things. By the time the girl reached senior apprentice, everyone but her parents had realized that Quinne wasn't so fragile - she just needed to build herself up to be able to do what everyone else could without thinking.

This became more apparent when Quinne's mentor, Hallia, chose a select group of students to accompany her to crafthalls and weyrholds all across Pern. Despite her parents disapproval, the young woman insisted on taking the opportunity to see the other continent, as well as more of the Northern one. Thriving in the warmer weather of Southern, when her teacher decided to stay on at Southern, she chose to stay as well rather than lose the woman who'd become both teacher and best friend.

It was even more of a shock as the girl's health and appearance improved over the next turn. By the time her 19th birthingday arrived, she'd not only walked the tables to junior journeywoman, but had been asked to stand Candidate for Southern's hatchings. Quinne suspected that last was out of pity, but then the day came that she actually Impressed a lifemate of her very own. The only problem was that lifemate was a gold.

Faced with objections from all sides, she fought to prove that she _was_ capable of being a competent goldrider and productive member of the weyr's leadership. No matter what she did though, no one seemed to have any faith in her. After five turns of struggling to make a foothold for herself at Southern, she requested a transfer.

Quinne found herself at the newly opened Dusk Forest Weyrhold, where to her surprise, she was warmly welcomed by the ruling Council.

Dragon Name: Jaerith (JAIR-ith)
Age: 5
Riders age at Impression: 19
Color: Gold

Dragon Description: Of an average size, if Jaerith weren't such an unusual shade of gold, she'd be virtually indistinguishable from any other Queen on Pern. Her length, wingspan and features are all very regular, maybe a little on the larger end, but _just_ barely. The aforementioned unusual color though - now there's something to remember. A deep rosy shade of gold (think Black Hills gold), she fades to a much lighter shade on her points and down her tail.

Jaerith is pretty laid back for being a gold, although her rider makes it difficult sometimes. She prefers being quiet, and being settled down rather than all over the place like those flighty greens. In consideration of Quinne's past, Jaerith isn't overly attached to her rider - the majority of the time she would much rather the woman be off taking care of her other duties than glued to her side, especially when she's clutching.

Pet Name: Shallie
Pet Age: 2
Pet Type: Feline
Pet Description: Much like Jaerith, Shallie doesn't demand much attention from Quinne, which is how they both like it. She's a big silver tabby with a full coat and an attitude that you can only get from a feline. She loves to get into Quinne's clothing and claw at it, or get fur all over the blankets on the bed, or even better, go rub up against Jaerith right after she's been oiled.
