Physical Description: Minya stands exactly five feet and five inches tall, and weighs one hundred and twenty pounds; she is in her third decade, but looks younger. She has shoulder-length brown hair, a light brown that is the color of dried grass. Her face is oval-shaped, with green eyes under small eyebrows the same color as her hair, a nose neither too large or small, and lips that are full and seem to always smile.

Minya's normal dress is a pair of trousers with a tunic, of whatever color, and usually dirty. She has a few beautiful dresses, which she saves for Gathers and Hatchings. Having been born at the end of Thread, Minya carries no scars from that menace. In fact, the only scars she has are small, white lines where she has accidentally nicked herself, either with a knife or a piece of broken glass.

Personality: Minya is quiet and reserved. She is not very aggressive, and would blow over and change her opinion when pressed about something by somebody who was. She hates seeing people fight or argue, perhaps because her family was a loving and close-knit group where arguements were settled calmly and reasonably, with absolutely no shouting or anger.

Background: She is part of her family's second generation on P.E.R.N, for both sets of her grandparents took part in the Great Sleep and came to the planet from a place fifteen years away, called Earth. They were all veterinarians, and helped the animals they had brought with them to flourish on Pern, as well as domesicate Pern's native fauna. Her parents were born about ten years into the start of the First Pass, and were colleagues who then decided to marry shortly after the Crossing to the North had been made. Her parents elected to move into the north and east, to assist those moving their herds. They were there when Ruatha Hold was formed, but decided to move some distance away and set up a minor Hold - New Hope.

Minya's birth was hailed as an omen by her family, for Monla went into labor shortly before the last Fall, and Minya appeared not seconds after all the Thread was declared charred and gone for two hundred years. She came into the world heralded by the humming of firelizards and the cheering of her family.

During her childhood, she Impressed two firelizards - brown Fun when she was seven, and blue Games when she was eight. These acted as playmates, as well as guardians, for her parents had work to do and very little to spare for her during the daytime. The names she chose for them were both silly, but by the time she realized that it was too late to change them.

Not long after she had entered her "double digits," both of Minya's older siblings were accepted as candidates and Impressed - Renla to a green named Hyerth, and Malyen to brown Kernth. At this same time, the Weyrleaders made the decision to intensely train only a handful of dragonriders in fighting Thread, and the rest would be assigned tasks to help the Weyr survive.

In the meantime, having finished her basic schooling, Minya began to study with her parents. Being an animal healer came natural to her, aided by the fact that she had been in the habit of helping her parents with minor tasks since she was old enough to carry something without dropping or spilling it. By the time she was seventeen, she was able to practice on her own, and by the time she was nineteen she was accepted as a candidate.

The first clutch she watched in awe as the tiny creatures, so much larger than Fun and Games, hatched and found partners. It was difficult to imagine that they had grown quite a bit from the first clutches. A handful did not hatch at all, and were taken away to study. At the next Hatching, Minya Impressed a green named Jerlath. Since they would never see Thread, let alone have to fight it, and since she was only a greenrider, it was deemed she need know only the basics of flight and betweening. She never packed firestone, never even saw it until a few years had gone by.

Then one day came that she and Jerlath were hunting, their assigned duty for the Weyr. After Jerlath had been weighed down by a handful of carcasses, they decided to return and drop off their prize before returning for another trip. Minya gave Jerlath the coordinates for the forest near their Weyr, and sent the green between.

They hung between for a long time, so long that Minya started to panic. When they arrived back in the real world, she discovered it was cold, the cold of winter, and she was freezing. She is found by a sweeprider huddled next to her green to keep warm. The time spent between and the coldness of the area has made her sick, and she is taken to the infirmary. Thus did she arrive at Dusk Forest WeyrHold.

How did your persona discover Dusk Forest? Minya discovered Dusk Forest quite by accident - a faulty coordinate sent them between times from the 1st Interval to the 5th Pass.
