Physical Description: Meryle is on the short side at about 5'4 and very wiry. Her straight hair is cropped close, the grey hairs far outnumbering the once thick, glossy black ones. Her dark eyes are still clear and shrewd amidst a finely wrinkled and tanned face. Her features aren't too badly coarsened by time, the dangers of flying Fall, or her past occupation. There is, however, a large scar tracking down the left side of her face from being scored. It damaged her left eye, although she managed to regain most of her vision, thanks to remaining medical technology. She shows a hint of Asian ancestry that her family didn't try to supress as much as most of the original settlers.

Personality: Meryle never suceeded (and stopped trying a long time ago) in fitting into the demure, self-contained and restrained attitude her parents tried to coach her into having.

She is caustic and posesses a fine sense of wit that has skewered many a young, reckless dragonrider. But to balance that, she has cultivated a good sense of timing and tact when needed. She can be gentle, if stern, with those who are shyer.

She has traveled through life as an active participent, and entering her fifth decade has not changed that whit. She cannot stand being on the sidelines or being helpless in a situation, and is always in the center of things. She prefers overseeing important events herself rather than having someone else do it. Sometimes in social situations however, she's content to be more of a loner.

Her biggest flaw is her pride, of which she has more than her fair share of.

Background: Meryle was born in her parent's holding along the river Jordan, right as the first Threadfall was falling on Landing.

As a child, she was incredibly energetic and often reckless. Her quieter parents were constantly bemused by her. Her small, close-knit family consisted of her parents, two older siblings and three younger, and a quite a few extended family members. Most of them were Seacrafters, as they would eventually be known, although several others were also skilled at other crafts. Meryle followed suit, having delighted in swimming since before she could walk and fishing (or, more accurately with her rambunctious personality, scaring the fish away) from not long after.

She apprenticed to the trade, and was privaledged to work alongside some of the best sailors of her time. A good sailor, but not outstanding, those contacts managed to get her ending up working on a boat that routinely ferried people involved in working with the dragons and the dragonriders. She had a couple firelizards by then, who were very well-trained, and she was absolutely fascinated by their larger cousins. At 20, there was a hatching and she was granted the privalege of standing on the sand. Weighing the career she already had going with the adventures of being a dragonrider, she decisively chose the latter course, and succeeded in Impressing the gold.

At 32, Meryle became Weyrwoman for Fort Weyr. She held the position for 9 turns before retiring, due to the death of her lover S'ared and her bad scoring shortly afterwards. Once Threadfall stopped, she took an interest in going and exploring places.

At 53, she ended up traveling forwards in time to Dusk Forest, where health issues have caused her to stay...

How did your persona discover Dusk Forest? An errant young rider accidently timed back to her time, and she comes across him while exploring around the area that Dusk Forest will eventually be created in. Meryle took it upon herself to see him back, and health issues from the long, hard trip /between/ forced her to stay.

Her gold coloring shades close to a red-gold on her points and on her wing membranes, and her main body color is a bright coppery gold. She has a sardonic sense of humor to match her rider's, though she is more easy-going on the whole. When she was younger, she'd been a bit of a mischief maker, but she's settled down as she got older. Mostly. She also has an unusual appreciation of fish.
