Physical Description: J'syn was a scrawny boy turned wiry man. He is tall, and slender, but all muscle. His strength sometimes surprises people, as he looks quite fragile. His hair is light brown, with golden highlights, and is kept short in the custom of dragonriders. Unlike most, he does have some facial hair - a goatee - which he keeps cut short, and covered during Threadfall. His eyes are a light, crystal blue, in stark contrast to his lightly tanned skin.

J'syn bears two scars - one from Thread on his left shoulder, and one on his chest froma canine attack as a young boy. His thin nose is slightly twisted from a fight as a child, but this does not detract from his handsomeness. His facial features are slim, and punctuated by high cheekbones, but his lips are suprisingly full.

His style of clothing is modest - when he is not in wherhide, he is wearing tunic and pants. His favorite colors to wear are blue and black, both of which accentuate his eyes. About his waist there is often a belt knife of some sort. He is very skilled in it's use due to many previous encounters with tunnelsnakes.

His hair color has been known to change, as he is quite fond of experimenting with berry and root dyes just to see what happens. About his wrist, he wears a wherhide bracelet, which was given to him by his father.

Personality: Born a weyrbrat, J'syn was known from a young age for his confidence. He seems to have two personalities - outgoing, extroverted confidence, and smug, introverted, condescending confidence. His manner of speaking insinuates superiority at most times, yet many are too intimidated, or just not bright enough to be offended by his mannerisms.

J'syn likes poking people - trying to irritate them by pushing buttons just to see what happens. He likes getting reactions, and will do just about anything to get a reaction, while at the same time being careful not to ruin his reputation, or marr his image. He is known for being egotistical, it seems at many times that he cares only for himself. This isn't necessarily true, he just has realized over time that the higher opinion one has of oneself, the better others will think of him.

J'syn likes being different, and hates conforming with a passion. If the entire wing plans to wear black at a Gather, J'syn will wear blue just to attract attention to himself. he likes attention, both good and bad. This, coupled with a thirst for adventure often gets himself in trouble for performing dangerous aerial stunts.

He also prides himself as a bit of a history buff, and has a knack for getting lost in hides. He likes studying the past, and trying to learn from other's mistakes. He also likes to play games, especially dragon poker and dragon chess.

J'syn also has a knack for airing his views. He is oftentimes loudly opinionated, and starts many arguments when people do not agree with him. Fortunately for him, he is a rather adept debater, and can win arguments swiftly, all while remaining friends with whomever he is debating with.

J'syn is not horribly discriminating, and gets along with most people. He likes being around people, for that gives him a bigger audience, but he also knows the values of being by oneself.

Background: Born Jerysyn, the son of a brownrider and a kitchen worker, he was one of the few weyrbrats who was raised by his mother. From a young age, he showed much potential, and was known around the Weyr for being a hard-worker because he helped his mother at her tasks. Once, when his mother was pregnant, and the Headwoman was being extremely rude to her, Jerysyn stood up for her, and did all of her work so she could rest.

At the age of 8, his sister Merylyn was born, and his world was rocked. His mother, Jerylie, was too busy with the new baby to give him proper attention, so he took to the corridors of the Weyr, where he was known for causing trouble. His father, M'ryn took him aside and lectured him often, but to no avail.

Finally, at the age of 12, he started to reform, as he became interested in dragons. He apprenticed under the Weyr's dragonhealer, who realized Jerysyn's potential. He was often assigned special tasks, and given more challenging work to stimulate his higher intelligence. He still had a large ego, and broke his nose in a fight with a jealous friend of his.

At the age of 15, he walked the tables to become a Sr. Apprentice. Shortly thereafter, a green dragon Searched him, and he was permitted to stand on the Hatching Grounds. His first time standing, he was late for the Hatching and arrived just as the last eggs - all greens and blues - were hatching.

Slightly annoyed at his misfortune, he was the first Candidate on the sands at the next Hatching. This was fortunate for him, because Mnalith was the first to hatch, a sturdy, light bronze. J'syn was rushed into the world of Weyrling training, where he and Mnalith never felt truly challenged. They were corrected many times for their daring stunts, but neither punishment, nor threats could break the adventurous spirit in the dragon pair.

They were finally placed in a fighting wing, and their first fall, J'syn was scored. This finally taught the young man a lesson - that concentration and not stunts - was the key. J'syn shaped up quickly, and at the age of 21 was promoted to Wingthird. A turn later, the wingsecond position fell vacant, and J'syn was promoted.

Then came one horrible Threadfall, killing the Weyrleader and forcing the two adult goldriders in retirement. J'syn smoothly took S'cair's place, and led the Weyr through the Threadfall, with the help of the weyrling goldrider, Sierrata.

When Serapith rose to mate, Mnalith caught her, securing J'syn as Weyrleader. Alas, for J'syn and Sierrata detested one another! J'syn felt Sierrata should be grateful to him, but the goldrider was not having any of it. In short, they got on each other's nerves. Often.

Not months later disaster struck again, this time in the shape of an earthquake that leveled the Weyr. Serapith was trapped in the hatching caverns with her clutch, half buried. It took time to get the gold out, and the diagnosis was that even if she managed to fly again, she would never rise to mate. Acting as a team for perhaps the first time, Sierrata and J'syn managed to lead the survivors to Dawn Meadows.

Not six months after the earthquake, Mnalith, who swore he would never fly any gold but Serapith, caught the senior queen at Dawn Meadows, making J'syn Weyrleader. This led to dissension in the Weyr, among those who thought Dusk Forest should never have "invaded" their Weyr, and those who thought they had as much right to be there as the native Dawn Meadowers. After a tsunami struck Dawn Meadows, Sierrata and J'syn left, with greatly decimated ranks, to find their own Weyr.

A location not too far from their old home proved adequate, and once everything had been set up, J'syn stepped down from leadership. He had seen one too many friends die from Thread or wrath of nature.

Dragon Name: Mnalith
Age: 11
Riders age at Impression: 15
Color: Bronze

Dragon Description: A small, yet large winged bronze, Mnalith is known more for his agility than his endurance. He is also a decently speedy bronze. His tail is slightly longer than proportionate, which gives him greater manueverability in the air. His hide s a pale bronze color, almost bordering on gold. He too has a scar on his shoulder, from the same Threadfall where J'syn got scored. Other than that, he is scar free, due to intenst concentration during Threadfall.

Mnalith is rather similar to his rider. He loves attention, and is often surrounded by hordes of female dragons, and several fairs of firelizards. He is still quite the showoff - when he flies, he often swoops and dives in an attempt to impress the females.

His biggest hope in life is to sire a gold clutch, and be a proud father. As a result, he often flirts with the golds, and encourages his rider to do the same with their riders.

Mnalith is often a big plaything for the smaller dragons, and the weyrbrats. He is much like a big canine, and can tolerate just about anything. He is very even-tempered and rarely gets angered, unless someone threatens him, his rider, or one of the Weyr's golds.
