The Genus Chromaphyosemion
|
Chromaphyosemion bitaeniatum "Agome Klozou"
It is a group of fishes often refereed as bivitatum group. According to some authors the Chromaphyosemion is subgenus of Aphyosemion genus, though some authors think that it is genus just related to Aphyosemion.
They inhabit waters of next west African countries: Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Gabon & Equatorial Guinea.
The bivitatum group contains following species:
Chrom. bitaeniatum Chrom. bivitatum Chrom. leonnbergii Chrom. lugens Chrom. poliaki Chrom. riggnbachi Chrom. splendopleure Chrom. volcanum
With exception of Chrom. riggenbachi that reaches a length of 7 cm, all other species are not exceed a length of 5 cm.
Most of species are easy to maintain and breed. They need frequent water changes, good filtration and aeration. Water should be medium hard with pH around 7.
They are peaceful fish that accept all kind of food. I maintained my Chrom. bitaeniatum with small Characins and Cyprinids without any problem.
They belong to non-annual breeding fish group. |
