Austrolebias nigripinnis "Molina"
The genus Austrolebias
is established by W.J.E.M. Costa in 1998 year. Fish belonging to
this genus were formerly known as Cynolebias. They inhabit
the waters of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. The best way is to keep
them in species tank with subdued light. Sex difference is very
striking. The males are always larger and more brightly colored.
They are usually aggressive to the females and among each other.
From that reason a few hiding places should be introduced into a
tank. They do not need any particular water composition, but
extremes should be avoid. Lower temperatures are preferable, though
it is not impossible to keep them at higher temperatures. They breed
in annual
manner as "Peat Divers".
Austrolebias nigripinnis is one of the most commonly kept
South American killifish. It is native in Argentina and Uruguay. It
reaches 5 cm length. The live food is preferred |
