I'll never forget writing this song. I remember that it was in Jackson, MS and it was the first time that Cousin Bob and I wrote together. We were in our little rehearsal storage shed in the early summer and it was HOT as HOT can be but we were in the mood to write. I wanted to do this bluegrass/folk type thing and I had the title and a first verse. I gave Bob the second verse and he totally got it. After I had written the 3rd verse, I felt like we had something. We demo'd it on 4 track and we felt like it worked. James had cut a bluegrass thing over at Clay's before I stared work on my record and I knew immediately that if I could get James to play on it, it was on and...so it is.
