Little Pistol Pete

Me, Pistol Pete & My Sister --5 yr. Birthday
Party
Every songwriter needs to write a good story song and this is mine. I really don't remember much about Pistol Pete. Not even his last name as he moved away after the first grade. But what I do remember is that even though he wore glasses he was pretty tough for his age and didn't take shit off anybody. I wanted to paint a picture of this really tough guy that always wanted to do the things little kids couldn't do such as: staying up late to count all of the stars; whistlin' at the girls; ridin' out to the edge of town; and dreamin' of Mexico. I liked the twist at the end and thought that the song didn't need any lead break or much instrumentation as I wanted the lyrics to carry the song. I feel this is one of my better songs as it paints a really neat picture of some mythical western cowboy or something but it's really just my best friend from when I was a child. I hope everyone enjoys this one as much as I did recording it.
