Kathi

It was a wild night for sure in Cannes, France 1991. It was Ralph Murphy, Stür & Larz (Netherlands Copyright Society), Richard Perna (ZZ Top's Publisher) and Me. We had a really nice dinner and a few bottles du vin at Felix's, a restaurant on the croisette, and then to La Chunga, a piano bar across from the Martinez Concorde where I was staying in Cannes. After a few more drinks we went next door to "Le Club Privé", and that's when it got out of hand. I met Kathi in the back of the bar and after a few bottles of Champagne, it was on. She was a 10 and spoke Française...so she went to 11. The last thing I remember she was leaving my hotel room at 8:15 a.m. and my roommates from Canada were checking out. I fumbled around, threw my accoutrement into my bags and stumbled out the door. I caught a cab back to the Palais and went up to Richard and Ralphs room right above the Chanel shop. Ralph opened the door, took one look at me and sang "Francs for the memories...". Needless to say, they knew what they were doing when they left me at the bar. Later on that evening Ralph and Richard woke me up (I had a 8-00 flight). A storm was brewing in the Mediterranean and they took me out to this 100 yard long concrete pier without any rails. The surf was so high and strong that it was washing over the pier. We were slamming multiple bottles of wine and bier and running out to the end of the pier and then running back when a wave came trying to time it just perfect. I'll never forget watching the sun come up over the Riviera and thinking about my night with Kathi...Wow!!
Encore, très bien, Etienne!!
