Got to Remember
(to Forget)

Well, she never could remember much to bad I liked to drink to forget as that's what I get paid to do is remember EVERYTHING.  This song was the first hold I got in Nashville.  I wrote it one day over at Cowboy Jack's studio but never recorded it other than on a work tape.  After her, I was dating this "stylist" in the music business for a while and she would drag me around to all of these "neep, neep" parties.  I'm sure you know the kind...where all of her social climbing friends would hook up with the producers, publishers and music execs along with all of their social climbing friends and sit around and go "neep, neep, neep, neep, neep".  I'm sure they were having brill1iant conversations but I always felt like I was in a room full of Charlie Brown's parents or teachers.  We went to one of these parties fairly late one night after a series of "neep neep" parties and all the pickers were getting tired .  I walked in and I was in a rather "good mood" when she asked me to play a song.  I was shocked when someone said "I want that song...I'm putting it on hold".  Well, like most promises in Nashville, it never got cut so I decided to include on this record.
